Google tops $600; stocks mixed
Oct 8 - Tech stocks squeezed out a gain as Google topped $600 for the first time, but the rest of the market succumbed to modest profit-taking.In thin holiday trade: The Dow lost 22 points to 14,043. The S&P 500 slid 5 points to 1,552. But the Nasdaq rose 7 points to 2,787. Crude oil finished sharply lower. Conway G. Gittens reports from New York.
